Should Corruptors in Indonesia be Given Death Penalty?

Corruption is considered as an extraordinary crime that could cause grave suffering the public. There are so many corruption cases in Indonesia. However, Indonesia becomes a country which has many corruptors in rank 16th in Asia Pacific. The punishment for corruptors in Indonesia is too weak. Thus, the corruptor cases always increase by the time. So, what is the best punishment to decrease this crime? Talking about the right punishment for corruptors are complex problems, due to differences of opinion and perception about that.  Death penalty is an effective punishment for corruptors, and some people argue that it is inhuman, break the rule of human right, and will not deter corruption. However, many people disagree. They said that death penalty is a strong punishment for corruptors, and can deter the corruption cases in the future.
One of the main arguments for death penalty is not appropriate with Human Right Commission. According to Patrialis Akbar, the Minister of Justice and Human Right, he said that the application of death penalty for corruptors are not allowed in Indonesia. The constitution of 1945 does not prohibit the application of death penalty for people convicted of corruption. “In our constitution, capital punishment is mentioned as part of human rights that should not be revoked under any circumstances, too...” Patrialis Akbar said. However, death penalty for corruptors cannot apply in Indonesia.
What is more, death penalty is inhuman punishment.  A country cannot determine someone’s life, even they do an extraordinary crime. In contrast, a country should protect their life. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. Even though they are corruptors, they also need a forgiveness. There is no statically valid data that support the application of death penalty will decrease corruption cases. However, the chairmen of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation, Patra m Zein, said, “The purpose of punishment is rehabilitation to make someone better, not for revenge”. In addition, the death sentence is a punishment that cannot be corrected or overturned. Death penalty is an immoral condition that makes rejecting the death penalty on moral grounds not only defensible but necessary for those who refuse to accept unequal or unjust administration of punishment.
On the other hand, death penalty is a strong punishment for corruptors. Corruption is considered as an extraordinary crime that could not be solved easily. Because of corruption, a country will not able to be grown. In addition, the people will be suffered indirectly. Indonesia is one of the most corrupts’ nations in the world. In fact, based on the survey that have done by an independent organization which consist of 146 countries, Indonesia was in the 5th rank in the world and the 1st in Asia Pacific as the most corrupt nation. However, Indonesia is considered as the most corrupt nation in Asia Pacific.  The government has tried many way to solve this corruption, but the level of corruption cases is always increase by the time. It caused by the law in Indonesia is very low. In Indonesia, corruptors who steal the country’s money only get an ordinary punishment. For example, the corruptors only get prison sentence for several years, and also they still can be a politician. However, the corruptors do not afraid to do this crime.  Dean G Pruit and Jeffrey Rubin in their books, they said that to make a strong punishment, it must be stronger than the benefits that they accept if not obey the rules.  So, to solve this crime the government, especially The Human Right Commission, should make the exception about the corruptor’s right for life. The corruptors should be given a strong punishment.
In addition, death penalty can deter the corruption cases. Everyone must be afraid of death sentence, because there is no more fear than death. So, if death penalty can be applied in Indonesia, the corruption cases may be decreased. According to Tcipto Subadi, post-graduate program lecturer of UMS, said that if Indonesia, which is one of some of the corrupt nations, does not apply death penalty for corruptors, the corruption will be increased time by time. It means that Indonesia should support the death sentence for corruptors, in order to decrease the corruption. This argument also support by Ernest Van Den Haag, Ph. D statement. This Late Professor of Jurisprudence at Fordham University, said that Common sense, lately bolstered by statistics, the death penalty will deter corruptors. People fear nothing more than death. Therefore, nothing will deter a corruptor more than the fear of death. Life in prison is less feared. Corruptors clearly prefer it to execution, they would not try to be sentenced to life in prison instead of death.
In conclusion, some people may argue that death penalty is not a good way to justify the corruptor, because it is inhuman and not appropriate with Indonesia’s rule. On the other hand, many people support death punishment because it has a strong effect in order to decrease the corruption cases. It is clear that death punishment is an effective way to both prevent and decrease corruption cases. I believe that if death punishment is applied in Indonesia, the number of corruption cases will be decreased and the people will be proud because their nation was clean and there is no corruption again.

Well, I had read your essay and finds some wrong such as "Indonesia is one of the most corrupts’ nations in the world. In fact, based on the survey that have done by an independent organization which consist of 146 countries, Indonesia was in the 5th rank in the world and the 1st in Asia Pacific as the most corrupt nation." Actually, you have describe about Indonesia's corruptions and then in middle of essay you take the same sentence with the first paragraph "There are so many corruption cases in Indonesia. However, Indonesia becomes a country which has many corruptors in rank 16th in Asia Pacific." I mean dont make repeat the same sentences in essay. and second your essay has many opinion about the others, and also dont used word " I believe" it is your opinion right? if you take your opinion on your essay it is make low the level of your essay exacly.
